Today is Women International Day!
While I portray myself as a happily married working mom in this video, I don’t think this type of woman is the only one to be praised.
In fact this category of women is usually put on a pedestal, so that every time people talk about success they generally refer to professionally successful ladies (especially the married ones with beautiful kids).
I want to take the time to recognize every woman who decided or wasn’t able for any reason to get married. Every divorced woman, every woman who put her career on pause for her family, every woman who chose to become a housewife, every woman who wanted to remain in the shadow of her husband to push him forward, every woman who had the honesty to say “I don’t like to work I’d rather enjoy my day doing something more fun”.
Most importantly, I want to pay tribute to the women who quit working to prioritize caring for an ill person.
Today, I am celebrating every girl, daughter, mother, wife, and leader. All of us are valuable. Do not live someone else’s idea of what womanhood is. Womanhood is you.
